This Christmas, Join SOS Bali in Feeding Bali’s Most Vulnerable Communities
(Baliekbis.com), Scholars of Sustenance (SOS), an international food rescue non-profit organisation, has announced the launch of its Christmas Food Donation Campaign in Bali, calling on hotels, food suppliers, supermarkets, and private companies to come together in the spirit of giving. The campaign aims to collect essential food staples that will be distributed to families in need across the remote villages of Karangasem Regency, ensuring they can enjoy nourishing meals during the festive season.
As Christmas approaches, SOS Bali is seeking donations of basic food items, including rice, cooking oil, eggs, flour, canned goods, milk, meat, and poultry. These contributions will be transformed into care packages for communities that often miss out on the benefits of Bali’s tourism-driven economy.

A Private Initiative Serving the Public Good
Established in 2016 by Bo H. Holmgreen, Scholars of Sustenance operates as an independent, non-governmental organisation with active programs in Bali, Jakarta, Thailand, and the Philippines. Supported by a committed network of staff and volunteers, SOS focuses on three core missions: rescuing surplus food, feeding vulnerable communities, and reducing CO₂ emissions.
SOS emphasizes that it is not affiliated with any government programs and relies entirely on support from the private sector and individual donors to fund its operations. All contributions are managed through SOS’s transparent and accountable supply chain, ensuring aid reaches those who need it most.
“While Christmas is a season of joy for many, families in Bali’s remote areas continue to face daily hardship,” said Eka Widya Astutik, Operational Manager at SOS Bali. “We invite our partners in hospitality and the wider community to help us turn simple food donations into hope. Even a bag of rice or a tray of eggs can have a meaningful impact this Christmas.”
